Endangered Animals in Texas

Much has been written about endangered species, both plants and animals,
in general and about individual endangered species. However, not a great
deal of text has been printed about specific endangered species in Texas.
This site serves to provide a source of information about endangered species
found in Texas.

Species in the Edwards Aquifer System
This site is really great for exploring the species found in Texas, and
specifically in the southeast regions of the state. It mentions many species
which are extremely unique like the Texas Blind Salamander and the San
Marcos Darter. The site is full of facts about many animals such as habitat
and eating habits.

Wildlife Federation's In the Classroom Site
National Wildlife has done a wonderful thing by setting this site up! It
offers lessons, activites, additional links and much more about the wildlife
around us! Fun for the whole class!

and Wildlife Service
Provides a great a great selection of maps of locations of endangered species
as well as awesome photos. Policies pertaining to endangered species are
sometimes difficult to follow. This site attempts to clear a few areas
of grey.

- Rare Sea Turtle
The site is brilliantly colored with photos of the sea turtle in its natural
habitat. What is interesting about this site is it offers instructions
on the care of the eggs of the sea turtle if you should happen upon a nest
of them.

Whooping cranes are a high risk animal especially in Texas due to their
habitat of coastal areas. This site offers information about the crane
giving its status, size, habitat, photos, and maps. It also provides many
