Scientific Variables

What’s a variable? 

Something that is likely to change.  In your experiment, a variable is any part of your experiment that could be changed.  There are three kinds:

Constant Variables (Controlled Variables)

List all the variables that you are keeping the same in this experiment.

Independent Variable (Manipulated Variable)

Record the one variable you are changing in this experiment.

Dependent Variable (Responding Variable)

Record the effect this change has on your experiment. (What will change as a result of changing the independent variable?)
