Dear Parents, The Rice School/La Escuela
Rice Science Fair is coming! I am
excited about this opportunity for your child to learn more about the
Scientific Method and to work on a project that interests him/her. This week in the Science Lab, we have gone
over the Science Fair Project Requirements.
This project is not optional and represents ninety percent (90%)
of their grade in Science Lab for the 3rd nine-week grading period. The Science Fair will be held on March 25
and 26 with judges coming from our school, Please talk to your child
about his/her project. They will received
a schedule by Jan. 23 that will have all the important dates that will keep
them up-to-date. All 3rd
graders are working in groups of 4 or 5, while 4th and 5th
graders are working in smaller groups of 2 or 3 with some individual
projects. The goal is to finish the bulk
of the work in the Science lab, but anything that is not finished there will
need to be finished at home. Each group needs to turn in their completed project
folder and logbook to me on Monday, March 10, 2003. They should not put their project on a
display board, but turn in only their folder and logbook (or Powerpoint
Presentation and logbook). Projects that
go on to compete at the district level will then be displayed on a board. I am
updating my website and will have lots of important Science Fair Information (including
a schedule):
