Third Grade

In Third Grade, we are learning about Water.

We've spent time this Fall learning about the amazing properties of water and its different states of matter.

We've been learning about the density of water. Here you see one of our investigations.  We added hot water, which we dyed red with food coloring to room temperature water and we see that it floats.  When we repeated the procedure with cold water, which we dyed blue, we found that it sinks.

So what do you think happens to frozen water?  Is it denser or less dense than room temperature water?
